
Medicare uses the term MAGI which stands for modified adjusted gross income and for 2026 Medicare is using income from two years ago or from 2024. The other term to understand is IRMAA or Income Related Modified adjusted amount. If your MAGI is higher by filing single of $109,000 or filing jointly of $219,000 then you are subject to higher Part B monthly premiums.
1. Single filing from $109,000 to $137,000 or file jointly from $218,000 to $274.000. There is an $81.20 surcharge on Part B and $14.50 on Part D.
2. Single filing from $137,0001 to $171,000 or filing jointly from $274,001 to $342,000. There is a $202.90 surcharge on Part B and $37.50 on Part D.
3. Single filing from $171,001 to $205,000 or filing jointly from $342,001 to $410,000. There is a $324.60 surcharge on Part B and a $60.40 surcharge on Part D.
4. Single filing from $205,001 to $500,000 or filing jointly from $410,001 to $750,000. There is a $446.30 surcharge on Part B and a $83.30 surcharge on Part D.
5. Single filing greater than $500,000 or filing jointly from $750,000. There is a $487.00 surcharge on Part B and a $91.00 surcharge on Part D.
