Cuts to Various Federal Services

The System

Just read an article claiming the administration is making cuts to Medicaid, resulting in about 10 million people losing their coverage. Let’s examine that; first and foremost is these people are living on taxpayer dollars and many, not all, could be working and paying their own way. Wonder how many of them are lifetime members and or siblings of lifetime members. We have created a system that will support you from crib to grave without you working or paying anything. As a hard-working American with over 60 years in the work force and never once asking for a handout; I am very tired of hearing those people wine about not being taken care of.

The problem is not the cutting of services; it is the need of people not to work and still get taken care of.

There is no free ride and those taking advantage of it should be forced to go to work and pay their own way. I understand hardships and the need on occasion to get some help. We all have been in those shoes at one time or another. I’m talking about the constant free loaders who don’t work, don’t pay for anything and expect the government to take care of them. That also includes illegals who come into this country the wrong way and expect Americans to take care of them. If the government were more efficient and worked for the people and not against them, this problem could go away.

I’m not cruel, or unsympathetic but I’m tired of my tax dollars paying for illegals and people who want to game the system and not work. I would set a limit on how long you can get Medicaid and food stamps and after that time has elapsed, I’d stop paying and force them to work. Those with disabilities should be able to find work that they can do and I don’t object to helping them out with the time limits imposed.

Some may think this is cruel and inhuman, but it is a practical solution to an issue that if left untouched, would go on for their lifetime.

We, as Americans, are free to do what we want, when we want it, without government interference. That also implies we are self-sufficient and to my mind that does not include perennial free loaders.

Let’s change the subject and move onto a pet peeve of mine which is why does Big Pharma sell their drugs in America for more than anywhere else in the world? Perhaps it’s because they can and no one has done anything about it until now. President Trump has issued an executive order telling Big

Pharma that they cannot sell their drugs in America for anymore than they do in a peer country. This means drug pricing will get lower. They are stating with Part B drugs under Medicare. These are drugs administered in the Doctor’s office. I personally get a drug administered in the Doctor’s office monthly which costs $4,000. Medicare and my insurance pay the entire amount because I bought the right insurance to handle that. Many people don’t have the means or information necessary to figure out how to get the medication but do not break the bank in doing so.

President Trump has taken the first step in resolving this important issue. Big Pharma writes of all the Research and Development against income thus paying little or no federal income tax. Yet, they charge Americans more than the rest of the world. I wish the executive order had some more meat in it. I would like to see penalties against Big Pharma if they do not comply, that they lose their tax-exempt status. That puts meat in the executive order and forces Big Pharma to comply. I’ve waited a long time to see this finally happening. I applaud the President for his forward thinking. I would applaud any President who took on Big Pharma and leveled the playing field here in America as it relates to drug pricing. I am tired of paying for the rest of the world on many fronts, including the cost of medications that save lives.

We are finally moving in the right direction, and I hope it continues.
